Frequently Asked Questions About NCCE

We've compiled a list of frequently asked questions about the National Center for Community Education. If you don't find the answer to your question, feel free to contact us.
• Who should come to an NCCE Workshop?
NCCE workshops are designed to appeal to a wide range of people from the beginner to the more experienced in Community Education. Our Orientation workshops walk you through extensive exercises and speakers to take you from A to Z. Our Specific Topic workshops cover subjects in more detail. All workshops are designed to cover all levels of experience.
• Does NCCE fund any grants?
No, it does not. NCCE is a training facility.
• What does the cost of training cover?
NCCE believes in delivering affordable, quality training and our funding allows us to keep costs down for our participants. Registration fees include double-occupancy at our partner hotel, materials, workshop sessions, site visits, and guest presenters, with some meals being covered.
• Can I have my own hotel room?
NCCE does not provide single rooms; our work agreement is based on double occupancy. If the hotel has rooms available, you would need to pay the entire cost of the room. Also, you may select your roommate if you are coming with someone, or designate non-smoking if preferred. Sharing with colleagues is part of the NCCE experience, and many roommates or workshop-mates stay in contact after returning home.
• Can I come for part of the workshop?
Sessions build upon each other, and culminate in a final interactive experience. Part of the value of the workshop is to experience it in its totality. We recommend arriving one day early, and leaving the day after the workshop ends, as a dinner celebration is included on the last night. Perhaps the shorter, special topic workshops focusing on a specific topic work better for you at a particular time and have send someone who can stay for the entire schedule attending the Orientation Workshop.
• What opportunities are availabe to me to continue training after I attend an Orientation Workshop?
You may elect to come to additional special topics or regional workshops, which go in depth on areas of high interest such as funding, community/parent involvement, and advisory councils. You might also elect to contract with NCCE for an Intact workshop, where 25 people from your location come to NCCE for your own personal training. Or our Mobile workshop, where a few NCCE trainers come to your site to provide a workshop for your participants. Once you or your representative have attended a workshop here, we are better able to work with you to determine your needs and how to meet them.
