My husband & I are considering relocating from NJ around May/June timeframe and North Carolina is one of the areas we are looking into.

Is this a year round community or more for the summer months? We would like information about the schools as our daughter is currently in 7th grade. Are there a lot of families with children?

I am presently a property owner at San Rio and am aware that work has been suspended at the development. I would expect an organization like Wakefield Development would keep it’s property oweners informed of the status of the development. When can we expect to hear from the company regarding the status? We should not have to play detective to get answers!

  13. George Fella on October 25th, 2008

We are currenty a property owner at San Rio since July of 2007. We found out in August of 2008 that the company had stopped working on San Rio the previous July. We were led to believe that Wakefield Development was a reputable company. However, Wakefield has not kept any of the property owners informed of their financial problems. Wakefield represented itself as being financially secure and made commitments during their sales pitch that the amenities would be built in 2008. What’s going on??????

  14. Linda Cash on November 6th, 2008

I’m very concerned. Are there legal steps we can take to recoop our funds.

  15. Rick Britton on November 17th, 2008

We are also concerned. If anyone has any definative info regarding the status here, We’d like to know more. We have a $1000 tax bill due 1/1/09 to NC on our property. The payment may be in question if the project is dead.

We’ve learned from one of the builders putting up a model home that Wachovia recinded funding to Wakefield resulting in a halt to the project until new funding becomes available. The builder implied that wouldn’t be any time soon.
