the Sanctuary

in Charlotte, NC

Ready to Customize homesClose, yet far away…Nestled in a quiet corner of Charlotte’s Lake Wylie, the Sanctuary is one of the Southeast’s most exclusive luxury lake communities, with vast waterfront and wooded home sites. In fact, a mere 187 families will settle in this 1,300-acre nature reserve. At the Sanctuary, the comfort and beauty of living at the lake is surprisingly close to the fine dining, shopping, professional sports and cultural venues of uptown Charlotte.

Private PreservesImmense homesites…From more than two to more than 13 acres (with the average being more than five acres), the Private Preserves within the Sanctuary allow for as many as five structures. In partnering with Audubon International, the Sanctuary is dedicated to protecting the environment, and green building practices are commonly used by our residents and builders during the creation of the custom homes. A design review board oversees design guidelines for each home in the Sanctuary, to ensure that it stands as both an environmentally sensitive and an aesthetically pleasing community. Common materials for the exterior of the homes include brick, stucco, stone, and cedar. In creating residences at the Sanctuary, an emphasis has been placed on open space, outdoor living areas, and planned future expansions. Homesites start from the $200’s, with custom homes from $1 million.

The Lodge at The CampLeaving the fast-paced world behind and stepping into a peaceful, secluded one is a simple task at the Sanctuary. Explore more than 200 acres of natural areas, 20 miles of nature trails, and a largely untouched, seven-mile shoreline. Only 20 percent of the land will be developed within the Sanctuary. A waterfront amenity area, The Camp, offers 17 acres of swimming pools, tennis courts, a playground, an amphitheater; picnic centers; and a boating facility. The centerpiece of The Camp, is the Lodge, which includes a fitness center, children’s area, kitchen and more for your convenience. You and your family will enjoy year-round events planned by the full-time activities director. Additionally, residents of the Sanctuary are presented with the opportunity to become equity golf members of nearby Ballantyne Country Club.

Lake WylieAlthough many of the residents could choose anywhere to live, they selected the Sanctuary. And it is in a great location, with Charlotte Douglas International airport and part of the popular Steele Creek neighborhood only about 15 minutes away. Uptown and other regions of Charlotte are easily accessed by I-485 within less than three miles, I-77 within six miles, and I-85, only nine miles away. Charlotte is the second largest banking center in the United States, and more than 50 arts, sciences and history organizations are active in the Charlotte community. Money magazine designated it as one of the top three “Places to Live in America” based on quality of life, housing options, and affordability; and Partners for Livable Communities deemed Charlotte “Most Livable”. Despite the ideal accessibility, living on the vast homesites, viewing the undisturbed meadows and beautiful woods, leaves you with the sense that you are far away from it all.
